These kids deserve to be punished to teach a powerful lesson, but expulsion is far too severe. What good comes from harming their future?

Everyone vents out their frustration. Ask yourself how many times have you used wrong words that you do not mean to act on. And that’s what these kids did. Frustration of not being heard after repeated complaints. They made a mistake. I am sure they have learnt their lesson. Taking their future away from them is a very high price to pay. I believe in second chances. Let’s not push them into further frustration and disappointment.

It would serve no purpose to expel these children because of a couple of stupid comments. They are already losing valuable learning time by being suspended. They are children and are very sorry for what's happened. Do not remove them from the very school they have been in for half or most of their lives.

As an educator of young adults and the parent of a CTC student, I believe that expulsion is too harsh of a punishment. Yes, consequences for actions are appropriate, but should be in line with both the actions of the students as well as research on teenage brain development. I fully support this petition.

I see no benefit in expelling these nine students. Students and parents have learned a valuable lesson. Now show the world that the school board is compassionate and willing to work with all concerned to make this a positive learning experience.

No credible threat and no intent to harm found by police officer on site. This should not be grounds for expulsion.

Students these days are under a load of pressure we older ones never experienced. Let the punishment already endured by these boys and their classmates and their families be enough, because it is. Extend grace and do what is right from here, no expulsion. Does the School District have the best interest in mind for it's students when it chooses to go to battle with the very ones it should support?

I believe these and many other children learned the lesson, let’s stop making examples out of kids who never ever had disciplinary issues before and one time made a poor choice of words. The police found these threats unfounded!

These and all CTC students have learned a hard but valuable lesson however these students do not deserve expulsion for this. Law enforcement has deemed these to be not credible threats. Why is the school board still moving forward with this? Every student at CTC is being effected daily by this. It’s time to get back to what is really important, teaching and learning. Let’s stop all the distractions.

The fact that law enforcement found these threats to not be credible yet these children are still going through this is ridiculous. Every student is suffering at CTC because of this. Let’s end this mess and get back to teaching these and all CTC students.

While I recognize some inappropriate choices were made, these 9 students could be anyone’s middle child within the GCSD. Including mine. I plan to work with the GCSD to better define what a “threat” entails. Additionally, I’ll work to help ensure that our classrooms environments are positive ones.
