As the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Start School Later (www.startschoollater.net), a national nonprofit dedicated to ensuring safe, healthy, and equitable school hours, I fully support this effort. The research has been clear for decades that starting middle and high schools before about 8:30 a.m. is both unhealthy and counterproductive, and many districts that put health and learning first have found feasible and affordable ways to run classes at safe, healthy hours.

Good luck! I hope your school district pays attention to the medical need for students to start school at healthful times!

This is a basic health and safety issue. To do nothing is to do harm to the kids you love. Period.

This would help more students to be on time to first period. Also it could give us more time to talk to teachers in the morning if needed, or just to get 30 more minutes of sleep!

I honestly think this would improve my grades because I miss part of math every morning because I'm up late doing homework
