I’ve been stepping since I was in elementary school and have been on Nu Theta Omega for 4 years in highschool and taking it away would just be devastating . It gives young girls and boys a chance to express themselves in a different way . Its also is something to do after school and meet new people . I’ve meet a lot of great people on the team , traveling with a wonderful coach and competing against other schools , it was just a different kind of fun . It just would be a shame to get rid of the step team and the jubilee club as well .
The youth need to stay active with positive endeavors so they don’t turn to negative ones... The step team does more than teach them how to step it also gives them responsibility, teaches them teamwork, discipline and competitive spirits. All are characteristics they will use later on in life.
I will do anything in my power to keep step and jubilee alive. To some its just an after school activity but to other alumni like myself, its a home, a sanctuary, and a place made for progression and productivity, in and out of the classroom. These programs build leadership, and a sense of community and togetherness amongst the many hardships high school has to offer. I will sign a million petitions to keep them alive. #KEEPSTEP #KEEPJUBILEE
Being a former stepper at my local high school I experienced the change that a step program has on us teenagers and young adults. It gives the kids something to do and keeps them out of trouble.
The step team and the choir are a vital part of the west orange high school community. Especially for the all the black students. I was on the boys step team and in the choir and I can say I received the best experiences from being apart of those groups. DO NOT TAKE IT AWAY FROM THE STUDENTS!

My daughter loves this team, it is a great outlet for the kids, and should be valued as such. Don’t take that away from them, they are family.
