Please keep the message boards! I know trolls have been prevalent more than before but it's also a haven for analysis and discussion of our favorite films or even bad films. There are many ways you could improve the message boards, like an up/downvote system, increased security for trolls and spam, etc. This is an important feature on this site and you could be losing many users by doing this. Social media isn't and shouldn't be the only way to talk about films, as not a lot of the members use them or even have an account from those sites. Twitter, especially, is very limiting due to its character limit. We are like a family. We bicker but we have fun and we love each other. Please don't shut this beloved feature.

This shutdown is outrageous. The amount of academic discussion lost will be unquantifiable and if the admins had been doing their jobs, this kind of drastic measure wouldn't be necessary.

Shutting the message boards down is one of the worst decisions IMDb could make, because there's no other reason why many of us go on there. We don't need to go on there to meet breed movie reviews, because we have bloggers for that, and we don't need to go on there to read trivial, because we have Wikipedia for that. The main reasons many of us go on IMDb is to show off our movie lists on our profile, and to discuss our favorite films on the message boards. Doing away with that feature renders the site essentially useless. Unless IMDb reverses this decision, the site may just as well shut down – which I know they don't want, and neither do we. Dear IMDb, please reverse your decision before February 20! DO NOT SHUT DOWN THE MESSAGE BOARDS! ALSO, NOTE THAT WHILE MANY PEOPLE ARE ADVOCATING FOR ADMIN'S ON THE BOARD, PLEASE DON'T TAKE THEIR ADVICE – BECAUSE ADMIN'S JUST RUIN THE FLOW OF IDEAS. KEEP IT FREE AND OPEN, AS IT HAS BEEN – LEAVING US TO IGNORE PEOPLE ON OUR OWN TERMS. THANK YOU!

Not positive or useful? Nothing is further than the truth. I know of no other site as comprehensive in terms of range of having forums for individual movies as IMDB is (soon to be "was" I guess). Please do not remove the forums for the few but loud users who can't handle potential arguments on the boards!

Shutting the boards down is not the answer, moderators are. By removing the boards it's only time before another site offers the whole pack that IMDb once did, and we move over to it instead. Hire moderators, don't kill off your site.
