Petition to keep the IMDB messageboards going

My favorite thing to do after watching a movie is head over to these boards and read other people's interpretations of the film. I don't actively post there, but I read them almost every day. They are an extremely vauable resource that keeps me coming back to the site day after day. Please don't get rid of them.

Yes, there is a lot of crap but there is useful information too. As an example, it's often the first place to find out if a TV show has been renewed or cancelled, and sometimes the only place for some of the more obscure ones.

I enjoy the IMDB message boards. I find them very entertaining. I don't understand the point in disabling them.

There are two reasons why i visit IMDB, one, less frequent, is Technical Specs and second, more often, are Message Boards.

It's a shame this, one of the most valuable facets of IMDb is going to be taken away from us because of a small handful of users and some over-sensitive sorts that are easily offended by them. There is no other place on the Internet for the sorts of conversations being held about the countless films, shows, and people catalogued in IMDb. I'm going to miss IMDb. I've been hanging out in the forums for nearly 21 years now. Without the discussions, I have almost no reason to log in unless I have questions about a specific title that I need to look up.

IMBd's messageboards are really useful to have a full movie & TV experience.

Please don't do this. In addition to the reasons listed in the petition, the message boards have consistently helped me and others find the name of songs/music in a film/trailer, recommendations for similar films (which, mind you, are WAY more accurate than IMDb's recommendations), and just a general feeling of community. The petitioner took words right out of my mouth when they said in closing that the positives outweigh the negatives. Again, you don't have to do this. Please just let this be, and let us be, kindly. Please let this be the exception to the adage, "All good things must come to an end." Because they don't have to.

Dear Mr. Col Needham, I cannot even imagine how, in the era of "Big Data", it is even a cost (relatively speaking) the maintenance of a board like the one of IMDb for an Amazon controlled company, provider of AWS, itself.., Besides, the justification provided it is somewhat obscure and nonsensical. I can't see how eliminating a portion of a service can make it better. It simply won't. That said, personally, as a developer, if I start working on a personal project, it means it is something interesting and important for me, as I like to think it was for you when you started working on IMDb in the distant 1990. If the movie industry and the meticulous analysis of a film was a passion for you too, as I like to believe, it means that you could have been now, in another hypothetical life, a common, regular member of the board like the rest of us... If this is true I cannot believe that you will allow the permanent destruction of this portion of history, opinions, debates, extras, trivia and crossroads of point of views and advice, unless the excess of money has turned you in a money-maker machine who has forgot the original purpose of the "community". You not only were able to create a service for the user, you also created a community around it. Why do you want to get rid of it? Choosing the path of social network you choose the "comment and run" version of the "discussion", which won't be traceable and followable in an easy way. It won't be a discussion anymore. Basically you are betraying the real passionate users which are probably the version of you 20 years ago...in a certain way you are betraying yourself...

13 years I've been a member of IMDb. 13 years I've posted on the message boards. 13 years I've discussed my favorite movies, TV shows, and actors/actresses. Please don't.

Please do not disable the message boards as they are the main part of IMDB in my and many others opinion. It is a great online community for the millions of us who love movies and television and has been for years, why would anyone think to ruin such a great site?

Shame as i love to see discussions on obscure films.

I can't believe Imdb decided to delete the message board, since that is the essential of Imdb for movie disscussion.
