The tribes' forefathers did bot object to SHS being Skowhegan Indians, why are the younger leaders objecting? Outside influence?

We changed the image of our mascot years ago to appease the tribes and now they want us to change our name all together? I don't agree one bit. Keep the name!

I do believe that we have adopted the heritage of these people and call it our own. Did anyone else notice that in the poll, only 8 percent voted against the change in mascot. I wonder who the struggling minority whose voice will continue unheard, because changing the name is affecting our "culture", and our 'heritage". I do believe that we represent this mascot with such pride, and courage, and that we represent the truth rather than the conceived vision that has been created through decades of prejudice. However, I do believe that if such a strong opposition coming from the people who we are trying to represent with honor, should be taken into account, and for that reason say that we should change the mascot.

Using the "Indians" as the mascot/logo honors Skowhegan's Native Americans. No disrespect is intended. I was a resident of Skowhegan for most of my life and proud to be a Skowhegan Indian. I hope you will decide to keep this tradition.

As a former student of Skowhegan Indians I am proud now and then of the commitment and resiliancy this emblem showed of the history of Skowhegan. It was an honor to be a Skowhegan Indian it meant pride, respect and understanding of the heritage of who we are.

I graduated from Skowhegan Area High School. I will always know what the name of my high school is. In my opinion there is NO reason to change the name , why fix something that's not broken. S.A.H.S. should remain the name of the school
