I've always been proud to be a Skowhegan Indian. I have some Native American lineage and and have no issue with the Skowhegan keeping this as their mascot.

As a member of Maine's Malecite nation I finxd the depiction of Skowhegan High School's Indian both accurate and respectful of Maine's native people. we should be honored by the care that Skowhegan has put into this portrayal and proud that these kids want to represent Maine tribes in such a positive manner. Keep the Indian!

why change something that makes the town? Shoot, may as well change Hannafords to oh let's see....huckleberry market....or rename McDonald's.....moolicious fast food. See how stupid it sounds? We aren't ashamed of the Native American tribes. We show them proudly because they stand for courage, and know how to survive. That's what the town does. Skowhegan is a proud town. Change the name, you will see the change in people keep it the way it is please. It's what we all know and love.
