This petition is to show disapproval of the new school lunch policy that is to go into effect next year that will remove any food deemed unhealthy by the district. This includes anything with a high calorie content such as the popular cookies that are sold in the school lunches. It should be the choice of the students of what they should and should not eat. This new policy is an attempt to make school lunches healthier and to make us make healthier choices. If a student wants to eat a pack of cookies they should be able to buy a pack of cookies from their school cafeteria. Not everyone who eats junk food is overweight or unhealthy, it is the responsibility of the individual student and their parents to control what foods they eat and to limit the amount of junk food they eat if they think it is necessary. Getting rid of the junk food at the school will not solve the problems that it is intended to solve and will only result in a loss of profit to the school lunch program. The people that are signing this petition are doing so to show there disapproval of this new lunch policy that is aimed to make lunch choices healthier. It is up to the individual student and their family, not the school, to determine what a kid should or should not eat.
