To Whom It May Concern, The problem with the intersection at Twigwood and New Ballwin is that it is very near Woerther Elementary and we must cross there to get to the school. People leaving the subdivision from Twigwood Drive do not reliably check for people in the crosswalk either on the way to school or on the way home. This is especially true of people making a right-turn movement onto New Ballwin. My wife and myself, our elementary-school aged children, and many others who walk to Woerther Elementary consider this intersection to be extremely dangerous. We have nearly been hit numerous times (in our family's case it is usually once a week) by motorists who don't pay any attention on a red or green light. The best solution I can think of for this problem is to install a "No Right Turn on Red" sign at the intersection and to add an all red light pedestrian movement cycle to the intersection from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM and from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Perhaps at other times to benefit children walking from the other schools nearby. The only other solutions I see would be along the lines of hiring a crossing guard or increasing police monitoring of this intersection before and after school.
