Petition to improve (through renovation) the general conditions, availability and SAFETY of the MRC Soccer Facilities

Soccer has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States, more specifically in the City of Santa Fe. There are four major soccer leagues in the Santa Fe area (Northern Soccer Club, La Liga, American Youth Soccer Organization and the Santa Fe Adult Soccer League) and the public schools which need access to soccer facilities. The existing public fields (MRC) are not only limited in capacity and play time; they are in such a state of disrepair they are UNSAFE to use.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to: improve the Soccer Complex facilities at the MRC, by renovating existing grass fields, replacing some fields with artificial turf, adding infrastructure (including lighting and effective irrigation system) and generally improving the safety and availability of the facilities.

We are currently moving toward the 250 signature mark which is the threshold required to trigger a formal review by the city council. Please send the link to three local residents who utilize these fields so we can clear this objective before the meeting agenda is finalized.

The MRC fields are dangerous, various friends now refuse to play there because they have gotten hurt. Parking is also a mess, there is not enough parking space for all the players and families especially on Sundays with La Liga. It is time for renovation!!!
rusted bottle caps, tire tearing up fields, mulch used to fill holes. our citizens deserve better. baseball got a renovation at Ragle, soccer should get a renovation.
The MRC could be a great place to play and help to develop soccer in Santa Fe but uneven ground causes ankle injuries and horrid watering often means playing on fields with a lot of large puddles.
A very much needed public facility and improvement. Not to mention its attractions for the community in general. MRC fields have been in hazardous conditions for soccer players for decades. Eg I got a serious ankle injury from potholes on those fields back in the days.
As a former high school and club coach in Satna Fe, I've seen many needless injuries at the MRC because of the low quality of the fields. Santa Fe needs this complex!
Our ABQ semi-pro team is ranked #1. It's time we had an MLS team.

The MRC Soccer complex has the potential to be a first-class facility that the City and County of SF can be proud of, luring out-of-town tax dollars (GRT, Lodgers, etc.) for both adult and youth state and regional soccer events. The fields are currently unsafe (for any age), are an embarrassment, and reflect poorly on our community.
