There was no Cultural portion to the pageant which would have disqualified all the top five placed *winners " as they have no cultural ties to the people of the Virgin Islands. That said, any allowance of the "crowned"
Miss Universe VI to participate would not have a viable chance of winning in this competition.

Place is more thane a piece of ground. It is identified by its people, customs, institutions. It also addresses a people’s identity, sense of rootedness shaped by interactions. Those not having an identity to a place or rotted in a place are not suited to adequately or in good conscience represent that place. I lived in Fredericksted, Croix 1971-1985 and the island and its people are part of the hand at my back keeping me upright. Georgette M. Norman

For too long this gas happened and needs to stop. Give our true Virgin Islanders a chance to represent. Really, what kind of message are we sending to the world? Anyone can come and reside here for a few months and automatically they can be one of our Diplomat. Unreal!

The Miss Universe Virgin Islands organization must do something about this!!! Miss Andrea Piecuch is not from the Virgin Islands. She was not born or raised in the Virgin Islands. She does not live there. She has no history or ties there. She did not even know that our Governor is not the President. She knows nothing about our people, struggles, culture, food. Her Wikipedia keeps changing. Before the pageant she was from Hassle Island. During the pageant she was from St. Thomas. She went as far as posting on her Instagram that she's NOT from there, also went on to thanking the people that housed her while on the island...This is a slap to the faces of the contestants who were born, raised, and possess all roots in the U.S.V.I. I'm saddened by this. Truly sad. I've been in two pageants in the Virgin Islands as a teenager. I have cousins that have won pageants there as well. I know that these other contestants must feel cheated. They were not given a fair shot.
I hope and pray that something is done about this.
I want to say that this is not a direct blow to Miss Andrea Piecuch but in all reality it is...For me personally, It's more towards her coaches and the organization. SHE MUST SPEAK TO THE PEOPLE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AND THE RIGHTFUL THING TO DO IS TO STEP DOWN NO MATTER HOW IT LOOKS OR FEELS. IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

People should not be able to act as a representative or speak on behalf of a territory or culture to which they do not belong. It is obviously a sign of disrespect.

This is not a Miss USA competition. From what I see in the Miss Universe competition all the young ladies bring their language, accent, culture , and knowledge to share with the world about their home. The young lady chosen to represent the US Virgin Islands do not have the above mentioned. The entire show was staged and it is upsetting to us the people.
