Hello all, thank you for taking the time to read my petition!

My name is Travis Nowicki, I am 21 years old and I reside in Western Canada.

I am petitioning to Google to restore access to my suspended YouTube account.

My account has been suspended for over 8 years, when I was 13 years old.

Let me tell you a little story about how this came to be.

It was a cold, dark, rainy day in October. I had just seen a brand new episode of The Simpsons on television and saw this one scene that at the time, I found to be absolutely hilarious. I decided, I got a good laugh out of this, and seeing as I had discovered this amazing site called YouTube only a few months prior, I figured that if people were kind enough to upload videos they found funny to share with other total strangers on the net across the world with the hopes of giving them a chuckle, why shouldn't I share the joy? Oh, I'll tell you why, in case you don't already know where this is leading up to.

So upload did I, a short 30 second clip of this cartoon onto my channel. I felt good that I was now a contributor to YouTube's ever growing arsenal of hilarity. But little did I know this would turn out to be the biggest, dumbest mistake I had ever made on the internet. Perhaps the dumbest mistake made in all of internet history to date. (Okay, probably not, but it sure felt like it at the time)

So the next day after school, I get on my computer and the first thing I do of course is to check my subscriptions and see what's happening today in the YouTube world. That was when, I was completely and utterly horrified at what I was looking at on my computer monitor. Account suspended. I thought my life was over, I thought that I would just crawl into a corner and waste away until the end of my days.

But then, I got over it and moved onto the next internet fad at the time.

Up until I moved in with new room mates, I couldn't really say I used YouTube. I mean, sure, If I needed to find a video on something I would use it as educational resource more or less, but I didn't browse it. Didn't even bother to create a new account after my Google account was banned. I had had my Google account for years prior to joining YouTube. I used my one Google account for everything, and I still do now.

It's inconvenient, very so might I add, to have to create a second Google account just to participate in YouTube community, heck, even just to add favourites. I'm always signed into Google on all my devices so whenever I end up going to a YouTube page that requires an account, I always get that terrible account suspended/access blocked page.

That means I can't access videos that require signing in, or age verification. It's too much effort to make an account and have to remember the username and password just to sign in the odd time for this. So I just don't watch videos I don't have access to, but I should have access to them.

So Google/YouTube, Please, I implore you, restore access to my account. I have grown up and I think 8 years ban for one silly video is long enough for me to say I've learned my lesson. I won't do it again, I promise.
