Completely understand your point and thanks for the feedback additionally I’d like to add context, my brother has past (long ago) due to complications of the vaccine. Also while we have been doing this for nearly two years the question becomes for how long? Remember it was two weeks to slow the spread now here we are two years later. This could be never ending. Please consider what I’ve said but thanks for your response!

This is not a CDC study or claims by the CDC. This is an independent study done by two professors, one of biology and the other of biochemistry. Please read your sources before going off and claiming that this is information from the CDC.

Being slightly uncomfortable is well worth it for people like your brother who cannot or are unwilling to get vaccinated, they should be protected. At the end of the day it is a simple piece of cloth (or paper), and it is the very least we could do. At most you're mandated to wear it for a few hours a day in class, and I don't think anybody is getting in trouble unmasked outside or in their dorm room. Life goes on, we've had a year and a half of it, it's just about being respectful. The threats are definitely not cool but anonymity does stuff like that.

Yes I understand that however I wasn’t planning on getting vaccinated either. My brother was paralyzed by one so why would I? However I did just like all of you. While I can’t speak for those I don’t know I assume those who are unvaccinated would be for lifting the mandate. Thanks for the input though a real response like yours is appreciated compared to a threat.

im sorry broski. everyone hates the masks as much as you do, some more due to things like asthma and claustrophobia. in the end however, this is not a decision made for the majority. 8% of WNEU's student population is unvaccinated, and whether that be due to religion, health, or whatever, we cannot risk that 8% in favor of the 92% that are vaccinated.

I found the article you're referencing and it is not published by the CDC, it was an analysis of CDC data from two researchers at the University of Louisville. Furthermore, the article in question specifically states that it has not been peer reviewed and should not be used for clinical guidance. Lastly, the quote you've cherrypicked from the article clearly states that masks allow for lower case growths at lower transmissions, thereby underlining the need to wear a mask even if we are all vaccinated. The point is to prevent another surge. Mask up

I never said that. First of all I’d like to say that everyone is equal and their choices no matter their physical or mental ability are all of the same value. This is a petition to see if students are interested in this restriction lift moving forward. You’ve voiced your opinion as have I. Have a great day.

You seem to have ignored the main point of my argument. Disabled students are at a higher risk of contracting Covid-19. People with disabilities are at a higher risk of getting seriously sick or dying from Covid. As a disabled student on this campus, I feel much more secure knowing that the people around me are wearing masks and I know many more who feel the same. Your position seems to imply that disabled students lives are not valued as highly as able-bodied students.

My brother was disabled and made a quadriplegic by a meningitis vaccine. I think I have plenty of backing when I say I’m not an “ableist narcissist” as you claim. Simply I’m putting out a notion to gauge student interest in removing the mask mandate through a process of meeting with administrators and the city leaders themselves.
