The sterling attributes of Jelili Atiku—his fertile imagination and unfettered.expressive prowess—have placed Nigeria firmly on the global map in the contemporary art field. I am personally shocked that the reward for Atiku will be corporate persecution. I add my voice to those of well-meaning Nigerians and artists on the world stage, and implore the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State to spare us this embarrassment and drop all charges against Jelili Atiku

His performance is as strong or stronger than the Traditional Carnival performances or calypsos of Trinidad & Tobago! His artistic work must be seen and celebrated! The artists of Trinidad support him wholeheartedly and condemn his arrest! Free him immediately.

This is a flagrant abuse of fundamental human rights of freedom of expression, what is democratic about a nation that citizens cannot air opinions and views, this is totally unfair, unconstitutional and tortuous....... Do not shut us up..... We have a say.... My heart goes out to you Jelili Atiku...
