Petition to dissolve current SACAP Board/Council due to Mismanagement of the Architectural Profession

My view has always been to allow the voluntary organisations to form part of the governing body, that way reinforcing balance between needs of the client, public and architect. They've also been that; SACAP is a money making scheme. What has SACAP ever done for me? NOTHING. yet without forming out chunks of money each year, for registration and cpd points I can't practice!

I have been prejudiced and unfairely fined for professional misconduct.

I am extremely unhappy with the way SACAP has been run and the lack of professionalism makes a mockery of our proud profession. I am of the view that drastic change need to be reflected and then we for new leadership that better represent us is imperative. I am in full support of this remarkable initiative and would like to commend you on the sterling job you have done to date.

A statement by the South African Institute of Building Design. ARCHITECTURAL PROFESSIONALS FOR TRANSFORMATION STATEMENT OF CAUTION TO SAIBD MEMBERS 1. Every South African has rights, one of which is freedom of expression which is enshrined in the South African Constitution. 2. Every right has a corresponding term of reference in the form of legislation. 3. SAIBD is concerned that its members may willfully or unintentionally infringe upon the rights of others based on allegations contained in the “Architects for Change” petition that have not being tested in a court of law, commission of inquiry, disciplinary action, or a forensic audit. 4. This cautionary statement is issued in the best interests of SAIBD members and any other registered person. 5. Legal action may be taken against those who infringe on the constitutional rights of others by making defamatory statements. 6. We ask that our members take the above into account when making comment and / or statements on any website or public forum. STATEMENT OF CONCERN The National Board of SAIBD is concerned about the unsubstantiated allegations that the “Architects for Change” tabled in their petition. SAIBD seeks clarity from SACAP on behalf of its members, the registered architectural professionals and members of the public with reference to paragraph 2; 11; 12; 13; 14; 15; 16; 17; 18; 19; 20 EXECUTIVE STATEMENT The National Board of SAIBD is of the opinion that the unsubstantiated allegations do not warrant for the dissolution of the current SACAP Council. The National Board of SAIBD appeals to its members to engage in robust debates on matters affecting the profession and the registered architectural professional using the office of SAIBD. SAIBD is a recognised Voluntary Association, and has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with SACAP. I agree with the way things are done in our industry. Especially the municipalities who are letting some unregistered persons to submit plans for approval, which makes it unfair for us as the registered professionals.

I would like the issues of Gazetted fees vs architects who give up to 80% discount adressed. The quality of architecture is declining as a result. The project allocation by government and private sector is literally unconstitutional. Why are large scale project allocsted to foreign companies? Regards, Rampou

have received notice of my own professional de-registration contrary to information i verbally received from the SACAP when visiting the new offices in Rivonia. I am Leading a Professional Team including Construction Contractor ABBICUS, for a public tender bid of a Primary Health Care Clinic in Cosmo City. (Right to Care) an NGO for which i have several years of association and interventions on building projects. I have been to numerous Courses and congresses to ensure my CPD points are managed and maintained for ongoing development in the profession as an Architect that I love so much. One of the deep rooted problems is that when times are tough, one is forced to manage the multiple disciplines, spreading your self thin and fighting for the required cash flow,etc etc. I am willing to elaborate on my own personal professional experiences and challenges, but feel very disappointed with the treatment I have recieved by the S.A.
