Pauline no one wants to remove the 17A. People in Swords have no direct route to the Hospital and need a bus themselves

As a regular out patient in Beaumont, because there is no direct bus route, I have to drive from swords to Beaumont and then drive back to swords drop off the car and get a bus into work. Rather then public transport to the hospital and continue on public transport into work. Taking an extra 2hr out of my work day.

This would be a much needed service as Swords is already too large an are not to have its own hospital. As a patient with a chronic illness I have a four bus round trip to Beaumount regularly so a service like this would be life-changing.

With proposed changes the service to and from the majority of Beaumonts catchment become worse and not better, particularly to the north county. Currently if an elderly patient, or someone who is unable to drive dur to injury, has an appointment in Beaumont at 9am (and alot of clinics start at 8.30) they have to leave at 7am; a very many of them get the bus to the city and back out because they are unable for the walk from Santry or Beaumont House. Huge numbers of employees in Swords aswell. I would think even a regular mini-bus from a central point like Airside where people could transfer off the other buses would serve not only Swords but Lusk, Rush, Donabate and Rolestown. Currently there are more buses from Knocksedan to Swords then Swords to our local hospital (twice daily return arriving after 10 and 2 is useless and saddly probably will be cited to ‘prove’ any decent service won’t be used). Parking at Beaumont is beyond stretched particularly in the mornings so encouraging people to use public transport is becoming imperatives

Thanks very much Mr McCabe. There would be long hair and long beards if we were to wait for others to do it for us.
