GMO’s have, through some fault of the system, gone unlabeled in many states of America. GMOs cause a variety of problems that concern the general public. Studies have provided substantial evidence that genetically engineered organisms are unhealthy for various reasons. Also, GMO’s have found their way deep into our gene pool where it could potentially cause catastrophic damage. Furthermore, as they are herbicide tolerant, they cause farmers to use a dramatically larger amount of herbicides which causes environmental problems and leaves a remainder of herbicide left on them making them even more unhealthy.

People have a right to know what they are consuming. The labeling of GMO’s disagree with companies that participate in genetic engineering, which likely has much to do with the fact that they have not yet been made mandatory to label in all of America. However, other states that have adopted the labels have experienced little changes in consumer purchasing patterns. People do not change easily and so labeling GMOs might not have much of an effect, but at least give those who care the opportunity to choose. My hope is that, when this comes up again as a bill, you will show it your full support it.
