Aimed at updating the breed standard for the Whippet with the United Kennel Club, this petition is open to anyone and everyone with an interest in the Whippet breed.

Our goal is to approach the UKC about a change to the UKC's Whippet Breed Standard, in the form of updating the 'Head' Section of the Standard - specifically, the 'Nose' and 'Eyes' Sub-sections - to be more in alignment with the 'Color Immaterial' that is stated in the current standard with regards to coat color.

Our assertion is that genetically, dilute dogs (blues and creams), whose coat color clearly falls under the 'Color Immaterial' description, will always have lighter nose leathers than black; and they will also usually have lighter eyes, as well.

We'd like to see the UKC's Whippet standard reflect the above nose leather and eye color possibilities, as well as come more closely in alignment as other registrations' breed standards such as the FCI Whippet Standard, the American Whippet Club Standard, and the English Whippet Standard in regards to nose leathers and eye colors.

To the 'Nose' Subsection, we would like an update to reflect a dark blue nose leather in blue dilute dogs; a liver color in cream colored dogs.

To the 'Eyes' Subsection, we would like an update to reflect eyes to be at least as dark as coat color, still with blue eyes, or eyes of a different color to be a disqualifying fault.
