We, the undersigned, urge Sue Stultz, Minister of Social Development for the Province of New Brunswick, to take the following actions: (1) Instruct NBHA (New Bruswick Housing Authority) to immediately cease eviction action against seniors in NBHA housing based on their ownership of small, well-managed pets. (2) Instruct NBHA to treat companion animals that are required, as attested to by a physician, for the emotional and mental health of a patient who is an NBHA housing resident in the same manner as a service animal required for a person with a physical disability. (3) Instruct NBHA to immediately undertake a revision of their pet policy, setting up reasonable guidelines to permit those in NBHA facilities to harbour, enjoy and benefit from owning a pet.
