It used to be so peaceful before leaf blowers are introduced. The shrill noise penetrates into the house even when my doors and windows are fully closed and is timely to ban this given that a lot of us are working from home.

It’s totally useless to blow leaves away just for mother’s nature to blow it back later.

Piercing through the peace in our parks.

Leaf blowers are a terrible tradeoff: a marginal improvement in our visual environment versus a huge negative impact on our sonic environment. They are absurdly loud compared to their benefits.

The fumes and noise level are maddening. Destroys the peace of the surroundings. Does not seem effective in achieve its purpose too.

Have seen the parks worker using the blower to blow the leaves along the canal. A lot of the leaves ended up being blown into the canal. This will choke up the waterway. And the noise is super noisy!

I stay near Kallang river and every morning there’s this group of elderly who will practice their Taiji along the river. There’s a couple of times when the leaf blower person comes along, it’s so noisy and produces so much smoke that it forces the elderly to end their Taiji earlier. Let’s keep our parks serene and pollution free.

Since my work involves teaching and coaching clients in the US and Europe, I often get to bed around 5 am, and wake up around 12 noon. And in our estate, the blowers start their work around 9.30 am which is an unbearable nuisance - and pure nonsense which should not happen in any civilized society! According to NEA Singapore (National Environmental Authority) the maximum level of decibels (dBA) is 65 in a residential area. The noise level of a single blower often is close to 90 dBA and imagine the noise level when at times they use two blowers in our Estate. We have written to NEA and expect them to take action based on the 65 dBA limit they have stipulated for residential areas. Also importantly, the health of the men who are using the blowers needs to be considered. Hearing this level of sound each day, can make anyone become hearing-impaired over a period of time. Also they inhaling the petrol fumes constantly will certainly lead to lung problems, sooner than later. Do we really care for our workers? Or do we exploit them just because they are cheap labor? It will be helpful if more concerned citizens write to Minister Grace Fu who has recently taken over as the Minister of Environment and Water resources. The sooner, the better!! John Samuel

Every morning (weekday) as early as 7 - 8 plus woke up by this super irritating noise of leaf blower used by a school. this affect the morning mood and seriously, there are hardly trees in the school, I don't understand why it has to use everyday and in the early morning.

Incredibly noisy use of heavy machinery, totally inefficient in what it was made to do, but successfully ruining people's life several times a week! What a fantastic ratio!

Polluting and unhealthy with blowing the pesticides in the air. The constant leaf blower noise impacts the business significantly as conference calls from home are not possible with the constant high level background noise.
