WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, ELECTORS OF THE TOWN OF DARIEN, agree to sign this petition that will work to rid the Town of Darien of 6 million plastic bags being put into our environment each year, by creating an ordinance to ban the use of plastic retail checkout bags and thereby encouraging the use of reusable bags. Excluded from this ordinance are plastic "produce" bags made of very thin plastic and bags measuring 28"x 36" or larger, such as dry cleaner bags.
