Greetings,

This letter is to the Realms Open Championship Board of Directors, (from hear on known as the ROC Board); We the undersigned have played, helped organize, convinced stores in our local areas, or are just fans of the Realms Open Championship.

We are petitioning you on the grounds of the unfair, and potentially improper way that ROC Board members could have an advantage in winning tournaments they were a part of organizing or creating. This basic conflict of interest is not only against what should be the Realms Open Championship basic rules for impartiality, but in many ways undermines the legitimacy of players in the tournaments.

Currently it is a standard, and allowed, by law in the ROC Board that all members of said Board may play, and win any ROC tournament. The funds in which, and prizes which are won in said tournament are then funded back into the individual ROC Board member's personal tournament. The impropriety implications of such a rule have currently not come under 'much scrutiny' as host stores may purchase prize kits, and do as they wish with the prizes in their own way (as per the by laws on prizing). As such there has been a deemed conflict of interest by many people seen in the respect to ROC Board members winning, and funneling their prizes back into their respective tournament.

The undersigned have proposed the following rule changes, and have been met with animosity (at best), or flat out rejection of rules such as these to be considered by the ROC Board. As such, a petition and a proposed set of rules have been suggested as follows;

"ROC Board members are ALWAYS allowed to participate in any Realms Open Championship event. As such of being a member of the board of directors, they give up freely their chances of winning prizes or having their prizes forfeited to the next potential winner in any Realms Open Championship Event."

OR

"ROC Board Members, and their families and associated guests, are allowed to participate in ANY Realms Open Championship Event they wish to participate. They are, however, to have any prizes or compensation for said tournament or event to be forfeited to the next runner up in the sense of fair play and to avoid any potential conflict of interest happening. In the event of a ROC Board Member (or their family or associated guests) wins an event, and there is no runner up, prizes are forfeited to the ROC Board for redistribution as equal as possible to all prize kits in the next Realms Open Championship series."

Both of these proposed rule changes are obviously non-binding unless the ROC Board agrees to the changes, but as the undersigned we have agreed that this type of thing is not something that is taken on lightly. To eliminate the fun or the chance of the ROC Board to participate is not the intention nor the merit of this petition. It is to affirm the fairplay, and non-impartiality that could be shown even without knowledge or intention.

We love the game just as much as the ROC Board members, but impartiality says that in good form such prizes should not be allowed to go to those who created the rules.

Thanks for reading our petition, and please take it as seriously as those of us who have undersigned this petition have in creating this.

Play on, and may the dice fall as they may!
