Polytechnic School is also another excellent academic institution that is keeping the grading policy as is.

Please move to the “hold harmless” grading system adopted by virtually all of the schools in our peer group.

Such an important semester for our juniors’ GPAs, and with so many other opportunities ((re)taking SATs and ACTs and subject tests, sports and activities participation, etc) taken away by COVID cancellations, it seems unfair to punish and demoralize students who are working hard to maintain and improve their GPAs in this critical time in their high school careers.

Although the proposed grading system is preferable to the subpar pass/no pass at my school district, it is in no way becoming of a school with the distinguished reputation and prestige such as Loyola High School.

I strongly believe that Loyola should calculate the Spring Semester GPA with the cumulative gpa. My son has done a lot of work and studying over this time period.

Our family supports this 100%. It’s unfair to the students who are excelling for no pay off for their hard work. Thank you for spearheading this petition.

There is currently no guarantee that our situation will be different in the fall. The boys who are taking a lot of APs and honors would benefit from having their GPA include this semester. For sophomores esp., freshman year when no APs and fewer honors were available would by default be disproportionately weighted.

There has to be a solution to this problem that in no way, shape, or form negatively impacts the students who are innocent in this.

Please take all of our comments and concerns seriously. I have not heard of ONE Loyola family that is ok with how you are handling graduation and communication.

We came to Loyola because it was our understanding that it was an institution that favors academic excellence. We are very disappointed that Loyola would favor a policy that would hurt the boys that work towards that goal. Very disappointed. We beg you to reconsider.

I feel very strongly that Spring 2020 grades should count across the board. My son has spent countless hours on class work and studying to maintain his high GPA.

My son is a junior and has been working extra hard this semester, the only time in his life where he has not had to balance sports and academics. He has been solely focused on his grades and he wants them to count. Please consider this request.

Our spring grades should count towards our gpa.
