How can someone say our children don’t have unique circumstances? Every district has unique circumstances. That is part of the reason districts are geographical in nature. And that is precisely why we have districts and not an overlord in some far off land running our school system. Clark County School District, NV has the 2nd largest school district in the nation and it’s AWFUL! Too many different types of geographic situations that, by human nature, lead to differing demographics. Our kids need people that know them, not kids in general. Our kids should be more than a number.

Let them continue. People don't understand that the hiring process is a bit more complicated than they think. It's not like filling out a job application at McDonalds. Local/In house applicants (assuming there even were any) were likely rejected by the algorithm established to identify qualified applicants.

We elected the BOE to speak for the residents of Calvert County and oversee the process of vetting a new superintendent. I believe they are doing that and have found two highly qualified candidates.

I think we have two promising candidates to choose from and hope that they will experience the best of what we have to offer rather than the vitriol some put out there this week. Seeing their resumes gives me some hope moving forward. I am increasingly more nervous raising my own children here every time I hear the loud hate raised up. Hoping for a superintendent who helps ensure my kids grow in a school district where diversity and kindness are valued and we don't cave to the loud shouts of a few hateful folk. #WeLiveHereToo
