This is very important. Even Sydney Nursing schools teach that home birth delivers the best outcomes for low risk births.

Please work together with midwives to allow women to birth with professional support. Anything less is an abuse of human rights. Australia needed to excel in best birth practice, not be left behind.

This is essential to maintaining women's right to choose how they give birth in Australia.

Every woman has the right to birth her baby where she chooses with whoever she chooses, why should private midwives be any less privileged to provide this care?

Women should have the choice to birth how they want to - especially under the care of such professional and skilled midwives.

We in the UK have managed to acquire PII otherwise we would be extinct now. You can do it too!!!

Every woman has the right to choose a homebirth and every midwife has the right to practice homebirth if it is within her scope of practice. Insurance is a fear driven factor that does not protect anyone, it should not be about insurance, it should be about safe practice and competency.

It's so important that women be given the choice to birth at home with midwifery care

Every woman has the right as a person and a mother to experience labor and birth in the environment they are comfortable in. Taking away that human right is wrong.

Ofcourse homebirths should be available. I had one in Perth 33 years ago with a dutch midwife. I want independent midwifes to be able to attend home births after 2016!

This is vital to ensure women have control over the circumstances and location in which they give birth. I hope to have a home birth one day. I don't want my widwife to become illegal.

If the UK can see the light, why can't we? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/news/12169112/Mums-to-be-will-given-control-of-3000-to-spend-on-birth-of-choice.html

As a proud homebirther, I know the priceless value of having a knowledgable midwife who offers support, expertise and guidance during pregnancy and the birthing process. They must be able to insure so they can practice.

Private midwives provide a much needed and wanted service to Pregnant and birthing women. Having home birthed 3 of my 4 children I strongly believe and encourage Government bodies to allow midwives to be able to apply and receive PI insurance.

NICE (2014) confirmed homebrith is a safer option than a hospital birth for low risk women, so why aren't private midwives able to get private indemnity insurance? It makes no sense to me. Women should be able to have autonomy of choice where they are able to birth. There needs to be 'immedite change' to allow Private MIdwives to access Private Indemnity Insurance.
