If the government allows the exemption now, the data should show there are no problems with allowing PI for home births

Midwives perform a very important function and need to be allowed to continue their work.

Three children. One horrendous hospital birth, one beautiful home birth and one planned home birth that ended in a hospital cesarean.
The only reason I felt comfortable attending hospital with my third was my home birth midwife came with me and acted as my advocate.
The only reason I was able to get over the trauma of my first birth was my home birth midwife for my second child.
Home birth is an essential service and option for pregnant and birthing women.

Please allow midwife's to attend births and be covered under insurance. We need this service to be available to birthing mothers.

I think it is a crying shame that the Australian government hasn't found a workable solution to allowing women to have their place and birth support of choice; and that midwives that have worked for years in becoming registered midwives and in their chosen career are no longer able to work. The government needs to stand up and fight for these women who's lives are being significantly affected by the whims of insurance companies.

Make them eligible for PI if they are qualified.

Both my granddaughters were born at home and no problems. Extremely healthy and smart.

The right to choose a homebirth with a private midwife should remain an option for Australian families.

Ya ya! being forced to birth my child with different doctors and 12 different nurses in a cold dreary unfamiliar room because of my insurance has made me not want to have any more children. What a horrible feeling. This gives me hope. ❤️❤️❤️

We need the freedom to make safe choices for Midwife led, natural birthing. But first of all the women need to be informed and educated about what is "normal" and what has been for centuries. It is every woman's rite of passage to have a natural intervention-free birth under normal circumstances.

This is a major important factor when deciding to have a home birth & it shouldn't be this way for private midwives
