Supporting women and midwives is a must for healthy births, babies, mothers and families. I support women's choices and autonomy to choose where and with whom they entrust their birthing process. Private midwives need access to professional indemnity insurance like all other health professionals.

Listen to us birthing women, we need to be able to have birthing assistants if required. It is our body, our choice! So pull your heads in you so called experts! Do not penalise that which you do not understand. Signed Mother of 11

A system that preferentially supports low intervention births and family and patient-centres care costs less and contributes to wholistic health outcomes. Please ensure that women continue to have access to a choice of safe birth options

It is vital that women can choose who their maternity care provider is and where they give birth. Especially when the type of care that evidence shows is the best for the health of 80-90% of women and babies (continuity of care with a midwife, no interventions unless medically indicated) is not available to most women outside of a Homebirth setting.

Private midwives provide the gold standard in maternity care and should continue to be supported to do so.

I'm so grateful with 5 now adult children and having been blessed with quick deliveries I didn't make it to hospital for my last 3 births and organised a mid wife as back Up one of my children was born with just my husband supporting me A private midwife practically could make it to my rural address quicker than the process to get an ambulance and than I could get anywhere My second child was delivering quicker than expected and she was born as the mid wife walked in and without a doctor in a labour ward Child birth is a naturally designed although strenuous beautiful process and with support by an attentive specialised trained midwife individually attending you the care and experience was in my experiences far more attentive to my and my family's needs and maximised positives of the birthing supervised support and overall experience.

There are very limited birthing options where I live so I would love to see more independent midwives in my local area.

I want safe birth choices available to me if I choose to have another baby, and I think all women should have options including home birth.
