Both of my two girls were born at home. For me it was the best experience in my life and I think that everyone should have the choice of experiencing a safe home birth.

Let women birth where and how they want to, don't turn home birth underground by not allowing the amazing professionals who support these women access to insurance!

Australian women deserve the same choice as British women currently do.

All women have the right to birth at home and children have a right to be born at home. Please protect these fundamental rights.

I happily gave birth at home with a private midwife twenty six years ago. Why is this political/legal/ financial stoush STILL going on???

I would never home birth based on my own personal experience of Labour, however I do feel that every woman is entitled to make this decision for themselves. If they want to birth at home they should be able to!

I had 1/3 of my children at home and he weighed 5kg. It was a fantastic experience and my recovery time was much better after this experience than either time in hospital. I believe I was so relaxed I could have birthed a baby elephant. If I had been in hospital I would probably have been subjected to unnecessary interventions. Both other times in hospital their actions (bad episiotomy that went through a gland and tore right up inside and pulling my cord out and leaving some behind) left me hemorrhaging and very sick. This did not happen at home where I was left to do things myself without injections at my own pace.

Birthing at home with the right professional support from a private midwife is a right for women... My sister in law had a home birth last year for her second birth and I loved hearing & learning about the support that was in place for her to do this safely.

Such an important issue to be resolved to ensure the choice to birth at home with a midwife is still available to women

Birthing suites and midwife settings need to become the standard not the exception.

With my 4 births in hospitals I never once had my doctor there for the delivery, it was the midwives that did all the work and my doctor got the payment. Something not quite right there.

As a UK based independent midwife and recent survivor of this problem my heart and mind goes out to you all. I wish you a speedy resolution.

i fully support private midwifery care. Midwives offer expert evidence based care at home and should be supported to continue doing this
