Women-centred midwife care is a safe option for most pregnancies. Providing affordable indemnity insurance for privately practicing midwives will enable families more choice and provide more security to the midwives.

I will require a private midwife for my next pregnancy as I plan to homebirth. If I can't have a homebirth, I wont be able to have another child!
I had two of my children born at home with a Private Midwife. Much better experience than the three I had in Hospital. Every woman should be able to have a choice.

Midwives should definitely be allowed indemnity insurance. It is a much more natural and pleasant way for a woman to have her child. And a more peaceful atmosphere for the babies entry to the world. Also it frees up the hospitals for people that really need the hospital for other illnesses or injuries which is what a hospital is meant for.

The words of my gp today 'Homebirths are NOT safe for you or your baby! I highly recommend you reconsider.' We need to stand up for and protect our amazing midwives, and our right to birth safely at home.

It is so important that women have the choice to birth safely at home! Restricting this will just force women into unassisted births at home. For many women a hospital birth is just not an option. Homebirth is a very safe option in many cases.
