The Active Policy/Philosophy of Harrisonburg City Public Schools (HCPS) is a stated commitment "to school-public-community relation programs which lead to greater understanding, support, and public confidence by all members of the community. " It is along these lines that we call for HCPS to take this opportunity to involve it's trained staff in the implementation of a resolution based upon the principles of restorative justice, and immediately reinstate this juvenile, Juleian Cappell, into the fall sports (football) season. If HCPS indeed strives to develop pro-social skills and supports students' social-emotional learning, this message could be sent most effectively by reintegrating this juvenile back into the structure within which he has proven to thrive: organized athletics.

This a fine,respectful young man. Please find it in your heart to let him play. In a lot of ways it will give him structure in his life. Thank you.

Statistics show that children who participate in athletics and school clubs/activities have a higher rate of graduating and being successful. He made a mistake. Please don't punish him for life.
Please, please let him play sports and be involved in any and all school clubs and functions.

I think it's pretty funny that they won't let this young man play for something he owned up to and took responsibility for, but yet my junior year at HHS the entire school including coaches and staff knew the entire football team was popping pain pills before games and didn't do anything about it until AFTER the football season was over...let that sink in.

You can't stop somebody from doing something they love by punishing them for a mistake they've already been punished for my class of 2010 and classes before mine had several atleast that got in trouble and that never stopped y'all from letting them play give this man a chance to prove hisself

The young man has made a mistake but the bigger mistake is not allowing him the opportunity to better himself a team atmosphere is what he needs don't take one of his chances to better his life and HHS has allowed so many kids who are on drugs etc to play others convicted play all to try to have a winning season he made a bad choice that doesn't define him

Please let this young man participate in sports. He made a mistake and took ownership of it. We've all made mistakes so let be forgiving and understanding!

We all make mistakes. He made a mistake, he took ownership. He reicieved his punishment. He deserves a second chance. Allowing him to play football is a valuable experience, teaching him life skills. I vote to allow him to play.

I recommend the Coaches allow Juleian Cappell to participate on the Harrisonburg Football team, as this young man deservers a second chance as he has accepted responsibility for his actions which shows leadership and responsibility therefore the school facualty and staff should pat themselves for guiding this young man in making the right choices and owning up to his mistakes in Life that's what its all about including getting an education.

We all make mistakes ..my son got into some trouble in school and he was punished and almost did get to walk wi t h hos class ..I'm just saying we all was once young and didn't think our parents was right about it easy to get in but harder to get out..Give him a changes .thanks

We all make mistakes. with his gpa I think he deserves the right to play. Why hand out excessive punishment and ruin his potential for the future
