Petition to Allow Chickens in Sheridan, Oregon

I believe everyone should be able to raise their own food.

Thank you for bringing this petition to us. I really hope it gets enough traction. The council is very dead set against allowing the keeping of any hens in the “City”. It will be a hard sell. Please let us know when you’re ready to take it to the council. You’ll need all the back up you can get.

This is a Good thing. More food to go around.

I see chickens as being ecologically idea. They reduce waste to landfill or sewer by consuming foods otherwise bound for these waste portals. The pecking and thatching behaviors airiates the clay soil creating a healthier top soil.. They provide a high protein food in return for human consumption. Essentially free of charge and produce a high nitrogen waste which is essential in all qualitycompost for successful gardening and over all healthy microbial top soil.

Let everyone have chickens if they want

I think allowing chickens

Hens are generally quiet creatures, and can help reduce the insect population without harmful pesticides. Home raised eggs are more ecologically and ethically sound, not to mention more healthful than factory farmed eggs.

It only takes a couple of hens to give you farm fresh eggs daily .

Maybe we can have the same outline as Monmouth has No roosters Only up to 5 Chickens Etc I would love for my family farm land to go back to just that. Sheridan was built by farmers yet we cant have a few chickens
