Adding another section would be very helpful in allowing seniors to finish their coursework on time for graduation.

In an effort to prepare students for the wide variety of experiences they may be exposed to upon graduation, NJIT offers different electives for students to take. One great elective that is offered is ME441. This course exposes students to many different CAD softwares that companies in the industry use. One software in particular is Autocad. When searching for a job, many companies are interested in ME students knowing the software. Unfortunately, MEs don't use the CAD package in the standard curriculum. ME441 is an oppurtunity for students to learn Autocad and have what recruiters are looking for. However, the challenge many MEs face is the limited seats in the course. Knowledge of software opens the door to many current employers. It would beneficial to current and future students for the ME department to open another section of the course.

Let the motivation behind this document not be a grievance towards the Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Department, but rather a testament of the passion this class has towards their education.
What is being asked is not to remodel the ME lecture rooms, purchase new lab equipment, but to open an additional section for ME 441. We understand this is not a simple task, but it is indeed plausible. The market value of an engineer with Computer Aided Engineering skills is evidently increasing. Thus, it only sensible that an overwhelming amount of students are enthusiastic to take the class before entering the workforce. Considering that there is nearly double the amount of students waitlisted for the class than actually registered, opening another section is a reasonable solution.
This effort is purely inspired through the ambition of my fellow classmates. I am absolutely proud to be included in a class of students who are ardent towards the field of mechanical engineering and assert their concerns for improvement of NJIT.
I wish to continue seeing NJIT being a school which is interactive with its students, and not only listens to this concern but takes action to satisfy the academic needs of students.

A lot of students said it here already but I'll say it again: this is the only elective course that teaches a lot of useful tools that are very beneficial to MEs upon graduation. Computer-Aided Engineering is extremely valuable on an engineer's resume. I would greatly appreciate a seat in this course.

Having a knowledge of the programs taught in this class is a huge advantage on interviews, a second section should be available.

ME 441 is a class that introduces AutoCAD to ME students. This program is extremely useful to an engineer interested in the mechanical contracting industry and eventually receiving a PE license. More advanced CAD and CAE software's are also introduced during the course of this class. Students know this class will require a heavy workload, but the numerous amounts of benefits in taking this class will help further an engineer’s knowledge of other CAD and CAE software's that were not discussed in ME 430.

One of the few useful electives offered, it really should be a required course.

I was lucky enough to get in but I also think that is outrageous when students show so much interest in a class but the department thinks they don't need to take actions just because it is an elective. This class is probably more important then 1/4 of classes we were made to take to graduate with the ME degree.

I am actually already registered and made it in, but I strongly believe that at least two sections should be offered. The class is only offered once a year, which already makes it nearly impossible for students to get in. MANY ME students want to go into this type of work, and I think that by offering only 20 seats every academic year, it is unfair to those who do not have priority registration.

FEA is a necessity, shouldn't even be an elective
