Dear Dance Club, Sheryl & Alli, I am always talking up our studio about how we are set apart and different from other studios. I love that you are building disciplined, confident girls through dancing with choreography, costumes, and music that is age appropriate. I love the teachers and their enthusiasm for conveying a love of dance to my girls. I am so proud and love for people to witness that during annual performances and during every day classes. I was heartbroken to watch a very elderly gentleman with a cane carefully make his way down our stairs, only to be denied the opportunity to watch his granddaughter in a beginning level class. At a day an age when schools and churches are making their interactions with children more transparent, I am disappointed to see that The Dance Club is doing the opposite. I think there is a liability in having interactions that are not public. I have a daughter that has struggled this past year and she has taken great comfort in me making an effort to stay and watch her. She thanks me on the way home and again in the morning. My support watching her and the very thoughtful coaching of her teachers has helped her tremendously to improve. Because of my schedule and carpools, I am not always available on the last week of the month to view classes and I would appreciate the opportunity to do that when my schedule allows me to. With a large portion of our family’s time and resources dedicated to attending your studio, I want to have a visual confirmation of my 3 daughters’ progress on a regular basis. It is rewarding for me to see that all my time and effort is worthwhile and it is a great opportunity to make my girls feel loved and supported. At the same time, I understand that your teachers have a very difficult job and I want them to thrive in their position. It is quite possible that I do not understand how great the need is for their privacy. I can definitely value that there are some times that blinds are needed. I think a good compromise is to open the blinds the last 15 minutes of class daily. I know that The Dance Club is committed to excellence and I appreciate your kindness in hearing my feedback. I have been very impressed with the studio’s customer service and have really appreciated the advice you have given me enhancing my perspective as a mother.
