I support Dr.Haile Larebo against a vicious defaming campaign being waged to discredit his professional integrity and know how by some tribal anti Ethiopia elements.

I do not support or agree with some of the points Prof. Larebo made during his interview with ESAT; but, I respect his freedom of expression and his right to put his perspective about the controversial ethnic questions in Ethiopia. Just because an academician put his or her point of view in a way that we don't agree, doesn't make him/her wrong or a criminal. Especially when such accusations are coming from scholars who preach hate and division publicly and manipulate the public to use force and commit crimes against other ethnic groups who lived side by side for generations on a land that is currently divided into regions by the TPLF regime based on ethnic lines. We should not forget that some of the acusers of Prof. Larebo most likely can be cadres of EPRDF (OPDO) under the guise of activists. Just because an individual writes using a distinct ethnic name, doesn’t automatically make them advocates of the ethnic group they claim to represent. Any Ethiopian has the right and responsibility to advocate on behalf of follow Ethiopians for that matter all African people, who live in Africa or abroad, and if you extended on behalf of humanity and all living beings on this planet. That is the bases of OAU and the UN. It is only dictators who want to limit the freedom of speech in the country they rule and follow the very people they push to migration and continue to Harrass them so they can remain silent everywhere they go. I stand against that. Thus I stand against the accusation of Prof. Larebo to be fired from his job.

He is a great scholar, ....

I met Professor Haile Larebo when he visited the UK and was a guest speaker at the Ethiopian Community in Britain to address members of the community a month ago. I also had the opportunity to speak to him in person and had in the past read his articles published at various websites. It was a privilege to meet him and have private discussions as well as hear him speak about Ethiopian History at the community meeting. There are few Ethiopian historians who not only have the knowledge and credentials, but also the intelectual honesty and boldness to present the history of our country with authoritative analysis. The recent trend of rewriting Ethiopian history and promoting the ethnic discourse on all sphere of the countries political, administrative, social, etc... life, and the followers and advocates of ethnic nationalism would find Prof Haile Larebo's interpretation and historical analysis extremely challenging and undermining. so, it is no surprise that they have resorted to name calling, character assassination and fabricated accusation of his good name and professional reputation. However, his assertion resonates with the belief of millions of Ethiopans who are peace loving and believe in unity of the country and harmony among its diverse communities, have more in common than differences, and tribalism and ethnic division have been manipulated by those with anterior motives and narrow political or other agendas. That is why Prof Larebo is much respected and loved by many who stand for unity in diversity and are against tribal elites, who see identity/ethnic division as a short cut to impose themselves on the innocent population. The vast majority members of our community stand with his exemplary professionalism and courage, and we also hope and call Moorhouse College to support and stand with him against any malicious attack and accusations directed at him from some members of ethnic fanatic groups.

Professor Haile Larebo is a very honest man with integrity. No one with a right mind can accused him of racism.

The professor shared his intellectual view based on facts and research however some haters tried to embarrance him by pushing the issue in different ways which wrong and shameful. As a historian he could tell us only the history not what people's wants to listen ! So no wrong act from him ! Except practicing his professional responsibility !!
