Kids need full time in school learning.

To clarify because of some snide remarks this was ONE POSSIBLE SCENARIO. There are many different ways this could all go. They could even go back full time and be okay if people use common sense. Clearly theres no way to make everyone happy. There is no reason to be rude, snippy or pissy

If everyone uses common sense, good hygiene, respect personal space they can go back full time. If anything make the day a little longer to stagger start times maybe? A couple extra mins between classes to make changing classes a little easier

These kids need to be in school. I am strongly opposed to extending the hybrid model.

Children need a bright future.. this disease is here to stay and near by districts are meeting face to face successfully. I think DC can for the sake of a quality education and a bright future for our students and community.

I feel our students deserve the best possible education Other districts have gone back, with no concerns at this point. I believe we should give it a chance. Please consider what is the best education for our students. Thank you.

Currently, the school announcement listed 2 kids with Covid & 25 in isolation . I’m not sure of the enrollment numbers, but for easy math, let’s say 1000. That gives a .002 % of the children in school have been diagnosed positive. If there are 25 that are isolating or in quarantine that’s a .025% of the children. We are going to have numbers of positive COVID from here to eternity. Are we going to continue to choose to do hybrid school the rest of their lives? What are the threshold levels that have been set to go to hybrid school? They surely cannot be this low? And I love sports just as much as the next person, but one has to question if we can only due two days of school, how can we have competitive sports? I’m sorry but when it is said the hybrid has been successful so far, what is the standard of measurement for that? My 7th grader only had one teacher do a zoom class on Wednesday. Also, there is a challenge of keeping all of these emails straight and organized. Something I’m not sure my 7th grader has been trained or equipped to do. I know grown adults who could not manage to do their work in this fashion. Not saying there is anything wrong with those adults. Not all can manage in this method, nor is a realistic for a majority.

I feel that starting the school year in the Hybrid model was a good decision, if something does happen down the road, we are all prepared for what we will be thrown into. But I also believe we need to have IN school instruction as much as possible!

We chose to homeschool this year because they hybrid option would be such a hindrance to a normal routine for us.

Kids need structure at school, not at home learning.

Students are not thriving in a hybrid model. Assignments are not being explained enough to do on their own. It’s difficult enough in an in person setting to learn new subject material let alone do it on their own. Our students deserve better they deserve the right to go to school. Give families the option go stay home should they choose to do hybrid but let the rest go face to face.

Enough is enough kids need to be in school. It may work ok for older kids, but not for the younger ones. My daughter got handed a computer that doesn't even have the capabilities to get on Lexia. This was supposed to be a trial run, and I feel like that they are just going to keep pushing back the date for everyone to be at school
