Petition Support for City Councillor Mike Wiebe

This is silly, the patios obviously benefit everyone. It was just a good idea.

Thousands of small businesses and patrons benefited from these changes. Mike Weibe deserves our thanks

City wide for the good of all Vancouver during a pandemic!!

Living in Gastown , the patios were great for our community !

Slow Hand benefitted from the same temporary patio license from which coun. Wiebe’s establishments also benefited. Literally every liquor and foodservice establishment in this city owes a debt of thanks for couns. Wiebe and Kirby-Yung for their efforts, which help struggling businesses from never opening their doors again. It’s actually one of the only things done by the city or province to support service industry businesses, and I am thankful for it.

Who would we be comdeming someone who stepped up to help an industry he is an expert in, he was voted in as a voice and he used that voice and expertise to communicate an idea to save small business...perhaps his accusers should have come up with an idea to save an industry in peril rather than waste the courts time and resources on such nonsense. This is not a conflict it is just some lonesome losers with too much time and not enough to do. If this is the only way they can get into office give it up. Perhaps his investments benefitted in some way but the livelihoods of so many was saved from an almost certain death they had no control over. Do not entertain this frivolity....we cannot afford to right now.

It’s far too global for this to be a conflict. We’ve got bigger fish to fry. Come on now.

this whole situation is ridiculous

Mike Wiebe should be congratulated for his efforts taking quick action to help save the restaurant industry. He gained no profit from this decision it was merely a much needed solution to prevent businesses from closing!

We want patios!

In my dealings with Mr Wiebe when he was a member of the parks board showed me that he is not out for himself. He works hard for the people of the city.

I completely agree with the petition stating that Mike is being treated with malice and, that the scope of his initiative is NOT in conflict with his dual role of having an interest in ONE establishment benefiting from his initiative and, his duties in serving his constituents. In these uncertain times when the most unique, exciting, and hospitable restaurants and, arts/music venues owned/operated by mom and pop/community members are receiving ZERO support from the various tiers of government...it is both refreshing and, important for these kinds of "outside-the-box" thinkers and, their ideas to be supported...before our city's heart and soul are completely ripped out. Thank you Mike!

Integrity and perseverance brought Mike to where he is professionally. This charge is ridiculous. I fully support Mike, and his concise actions designed to save an entire industry, and its tax paying staff!

How could anyone object to the patio initiative? Safer and more fun. Win win. Ridiculous.

Good lord. Doesn’t city hall have more important things to spend their time pursuing? In the midst of a global pandemic, the city NEEDED to make this change to save small businesses all over the city. I’m thankful Mike took the initiative. It’s hardly a conflict if his businesses were not treated any different than all the others in the city who so desperately needed this change to happen. Stop wasting tax payer dollars on party politics and get back to working for the people of vancouver.

The patios is a huge thing for our city moving forward from archaic laws for all of us.
