Accommodation, eating and many issues are human rights and no one is allowed to intervene, especially the treatment of foreigners. So far, No country has ever banned the freedom to choose a place to live, so in IUJ, this cannot happen.

I understand the financial side of the issue. But I think if IUJ doesn’t want to subsidize SD4, they can simply stop subsidies without any restrictions for moving out of the campus.

Students should be given equal treatment. Some single first year (non-linkage) students have been allowed to move into share houses. The school needs to provide transparency regarding this issue.

In addition the dorm monthly payment is not competitive with off campus lodgings!

The level of Masters degree mostly invlolve adult students. It is right for them to live the life that please them. Restrictions to live in domitories somehow it is not fair.

Students go to IUJ without full knowledge of the living situation. Nonetheless, students were informed that they could move out later on if it is more convenient for them, which is great. Thus, if in the middle of a school year, this policy will be enforced, I think it is rather unfair for the current students.
If IUJ feels strongly about this policy, it must be fully disclosed early on during enrollment and even highlighted in its promotional campaigns. In the absence of a prior disclosure, however, I believe sudden imposition of this policy is unfair and detrimental to the welfare of the students. I believe that the university must uphold the welfare of the students by reconsidering this policy.
Other than the issues raised, mobility of the students is a critical issue too since the campus is inaccessible by public transportation. In the long run, the administration must think of this policy's implication to the reputation and sustainability of IUJ. Many prospective students will be discouraged to enroll and suffer from too much isolation for 2 years.

A private entity should find ways to balance the books without infringing on the rights of its most important assets, it's students.

Students should be given every privilege that all Japanese funded students enjoy in Japan. Especially accommodation wise.

IUJ is a graduate university. Student have the right to decide were they want to stay.

It is shocking that in 2019, we are dealing with such an injustice coming from a supposed institution of higher learning!
