It seems that residents who have complied with all by-laws and completed inspections for basement units are now being asked to undergo an additional inspection and pay a registration fee.
At the same time, those who may have finished basements without proper approvals appear to avoid these requirements. This feels unfair to law-abiding residents.

By laws like these must be shared with community first and then introduced. I have a legal basement according to the very documents provided by THE TOWN OF MILTON. How can be my basement now not LEGAL? This law should apply after the date it was implemented. Also, please save your time and get better at going after owners of illegal basements and not people who are following the law.
