On January 24, 2019, Nathaniel Hendren- a uniformed police officer- while on duty being paid by taxpayers of the city of St. Louis, left his assigned post, went home to his apartment where he proceeded to point a loaded gun at Office Katlyn Nicole Alix (24) and shoot her in the chest. Hendren had a past history of violence with other women and had similarly pointed loaded guns toward them during intimate encounters. Katlyn Alix died from the gunshot wound to her chest.

Hendren was convicted of armed criminal action and involuntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison. He will have served only 2 years and 10 months when he is considered for parole.

We, the undersigned, STRONGLY OPPOSE parole for Nathaniel Hendren. Justice demands he serve the full prison term given to him at the time of his sentence.

The stories coming in about Katlyn are heartbreaking and remind me why we cannot let this go. I am working on getting our message directly to the parole board now.

I feel that his case is more troublesome because he was on duty and then aimed a gun at Katlyn. He certainly deserves to serve his full sentence. His crime is more egregious considering that he was a member of law enforcement.

I had the pleasure of meeting Katlyn several times when she came to the nursing home I worked at. She was a loving, caring person and she was taken away from us by someone who not only disrespected the law but also the position he held. Releasing Hendron is a travesty.

He killed someone. He has a past history of violence against women. This shows a pattern of bahavior, what he is like and how little he feels toward people of the opposite sex. He doesn't deserve to be free, he is definitely a danger to the public, especially females.

This was NOT a tragic mistake. This was murder, while he was on duty! I live in the city of STL and this crime was devastating to the community. 7 years was pathetic, 2 years 10 months? That should bring protests to the streets. Please deny N. Hendren’s request of parole. Thank you.

As a law enforcement officer he knew proper gun safety procedures and willingly disregarded them resulting in a fellow law enforcement officer’s death. He should have to serve his entire sentence. This was not an accident, it was deliberate negligence.

While Katlyn was an active participant in this deadly insanity, two and one half years is not nearly enough time for the officer who pulled the trigger to reflect on his action. A police officer, of all people, should know better. He should spend the entire 7 years incarcerated.
