Combining Mae eanes and Williamson will be a bad idea for a number of reasons.

My opinion is that this is a real case to be presented to the Departments of Education and Justice. It is a resounding reflection of a period in history when our community had one school for all of our children (grades 1-12) which was at Williamson in the 1950's & 60's. It appears that this is a back-door attempt to reverse equal education opportunities in this predominately black neighborhood.

I am signing this petition as I am a concerned member of the community, former student of both schools, and have children which attended at least one of these schools. If this decision had been made through proper channels and within guidelines including officials and community, there would be no need for argument or petition. Instead, this was an under the table deal. One which was pushed through in order to generate quick revenue at the cost of providing quality education in an area it is needed most! And the fact that the presiding MCPSS superintendent can not herself address these issues and speak in person is shameful!

This is very common in schools up north. It's not a good environment to have mixed ages in a school. That kind of age gap is not safe. High School and Middle School students should not intermingle in the same school setting. It's not successful from my firsthand experience. It will be a stressful environment which will affect the students all academically.
