Petition in Support of Stuart Curtis
Petition in Support of Stuart Curtis
Regional Director, American Cornhole League – Capital Region (518)
This petition is submitted by players and members of the Capital Region cornhole community to respectfully appeal the four-month suspension of Stuart Curtis, Regional Director for American Cornhole League (ACL) events in the 518 area. This petition further requests a formal, impartial review of leadership-related concerns reported by players that have affected participation, confidence, and continuity within the region.
Stuart Curtis has been responsible for establishing and developing ACL-sanctioned cornhole in the Capital Region for more than six years. Prior to his involvement, organized ACL play did not exist in the 518 area. Through sustained effort, leadership, and organization, Stuart built a consistent and active cornhole community operating under ACL standards.
Throughout his tenure, Stuart has been widely regarded by players as fair, professional, and committed to transparent and equitable competition. His leadership has supported players across all skill levels while fostering growth, accessibility, and consistency in league and tournament operations.
In addition to organizing competitive play, Stuart has contributed significantly to the broader community through charitable and benefit events. These efforts include organizing large-scale tournaments and fundraisers that support individuals, local organizations, and community initiatives. Notably, these efforts include the largest annual cornhole tournament in New York State and involvement in the Harding Mazzotti Big Toss tournaments, which benefit first responders and local causes.
Members of the Capital Region cornhole community have expressed concern that the four-month suspension of Stuart Curtis has disrupted league continuity, limited sanctioned playing opportunities, and negatively affected player participation and confidence. Petitioners believe the suspension has hindered ongoing growth and stability within the region and is not aligned with the best interests of ACL players in the Capital Region.
This petition also respectfully requests that the American Cornhole League review concerns raised by players regarding the conduct of the current New York State Director, Dustin Arnold. Petitioners report the following concerns based on player accounts and communications:
-Players report statements or actions perceived as discouraging attendance at Adirondack Cornhole events operated by Stuart Curtis. Petitioners believe such conduct, if substantiated, undermines participation and conflicts with the ACL’s stated goal of growing the sport.
-Players report receiving information regarding Stuart Curtis’s suspension that they understood to be private or confidential. Petitioners raise concern that internal communications may have been shared beyond appropriate channels, contributing to confusion, speculation, and reputational harm.
-Petitioners report that statements were circulated characterizing routine software-related payment or administrative issues as intentional or improper conduct, without verification or formal findings. Players express concern that such characterizations were made without providing Stuart Curtis an opportunity to respond or without documented evidence being presented.
-Players have raised concerns regarding inconsistent handling of reported rule or conduct issues at different levels of ACL events. Petitioners request that any review apply consistent standards across all leadership levels.
-Petitioners report a perception that concerns raised by players regarding leadership conduct were not addressed, while actions affecting Stuart Curtis proceeded without transparent explanation or an opportunity for response, contributing to diminished confidence in oversight processes.
Petitioners emphasize that these concerns are not presented as determinations of wrongdoing, but rather as reported issues warranting impartial review.
The undersigned respectfully request that the American Cornhole League:
-Conduct an impartial review of the suspension issued to Stuart Curtis
-Consider the collective input of Capital Region players
-Reevaluate the suspension and its impact on the local ACL community
-Review the reported leadership concerns about the current State Director, Dustin Arnold, through appropriate internal processes
This petition is submitted in good faith and reflects the collective voice of players seeking transparency, professionalism, and leadership decisions that support the continued growth and integrity of ACL-sanctioned cornhole in the Capital Region.
