Petition in Support of Construction of Tennis Court Facility for PCR-3

Since the addition of tennis as a varsity sport to this high school, it has exploded in success for the entire community. I was fortunate enough to be a member of the varsity team for two years in my high school career. For both of my years, the varsity team took their second and third conference titles. This year, the women's team has claimed four titles in a row, and lost no more than 2 matches a year. Similar success reaches the boys side. For both my years, there were a good 40 girls coming out to join the tennis team. It is sad to see that some may need to be turned away because there is no room for all the members to practice. this is a lost opportunity for a lot of athletes and something needs to be done. With the success the team has had, and the growing number of members, the program deserves home courts to be played and practiced on, not merely for the sake of courts but for the program to flourish. In its short history, the program has already brought so much to the high school and to the community, imagine what we could do if we could capitalize on that success and bring it a little closer to home.

After having been a varsity sport for at least the last ten years, it is about time that the coaches, players, and community of Platte City have somewhere nice to play. With the success this sport has had, they deserve it more than anything.

The tennis team at PCHS deserves new courts. The players and coaching staff has been very patient and flexible with the conditions.

This should have been done years ago when Tennis was added as a sport.

Please bring the sport of tennis to our Platte City students. It would be more than appreciated to have tennis courts to bring out the true talents of those who enjoy and love tennis.
