There have recently been changes announced in respect of the First Bus Bristol pricing structure. A large amount of single fares have been reduced. What has not been made clear in any of the media reports is the fare increases to monthly tickets and yearly passes for people who live in Zone 1. Regular travelers are being penalized by fare increases, despite loyal custom to First Bus over many years. The monthly fare for Zone 1 is increasing from £60 - £68 - an increase of 13.3%. The increase will be unaffordable for allot of people which will mean they will either resort to using their cars to commute to work, or they will have to pay in single fares every day, which will delay the bus services. First argue that the ticket can be used over a wider zone, but for those of us currently in zone 1 the being able to use it to travel further is of no benefit. Details of the changes can be read here: http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/bristol_bath/travel_news/news_initiatives/?item=13341&conf=0

They are also taking away free travel at the weekends for children of bus pass users saying it is a 'little used benefit'. Why take it away if it is 'little used'. Those of us who do use it, value it.

I have been reading your messages about how these price hikes truly impact your daily commute and it is clear I am not the only one feeling this pressure. Your stories are the reason this is gaining any traction at all and I am just doing my best to keep up with your collective frustration.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum this has gained so quickly. This is entirely due to the people who decided to speak up about these unfair fare hikes. You have turned a personal frustration into something that feels like it might actually be heard.

Ridiculous price hike for people who rely on this to get to work every day. 8 quid extra a month might not sound like much to them but it adds up FAST. Sort it out First.

Taking away the kids weekend travel is just plain stingy. Stop punishing the people who actually use these buses daily.

Absolute joke. Bristol buses are already unreliable and now they expect us to pay more for the privilege? Nope.
