On Old Big Cove, South of Goldsmith Schiffman Elementary, and on the East side of the road there is a portion that lacks a sidewalk/walking bridge. This span is between River Park Blvd. & Highland Park Drive, East of the Overton subdivision. This area is within the walking distance to the school. Many parents and community members would love to utilize this sidewalk for not only taking their children to school, but for walking, biking, etc. However, it cannot be used due to safety concerns. As of now, you have to walk on the narrow road/bridge where people are notorious for speeding. A crosswalk from the Overton Community across Old Big Cove to the sidewalk would also be needed. As more people move into the area, this situation will become more hazardous.
