In recent years, the results of several recruitment exercises for numerical replacement of lecturers in public universities in Cameroon have been kept secret. Furthermore, with the unspoken objective of limiting the number of applicants, some calls for applications have been deliberately concealed, while others have been publicly announced with very short deadlines for applications. Additionally, discriminatory criteria have been imposed on candidate selection.

These practices seriously undermine the credibility of academic staff recruitment in our universities. The lack of transparency raises fundamental questions about the effective application of regulatory texts governing lecturers recruitments and the guarantee of meritocracy, both of which are essential for ensuring the quality of our higher education. This situation is all the more concerning given that public universities are supposed to be bastions of excellence, where scientific and pedagogical competence are the primary criteria for recruiting academic staff.
The poor ranking of Cameroonian universities in international listings is undoubtedly linked to these practices.
To restore trust and ensure transparency in university recruitment, we demand that the competent authorities:
- Officially and immediately publish the call of applications and the results of all recruitment exercises for numerical replacement of lecturers in public universities, particularly those from the past three years that have remained confidential.
- In cases of proven irregularities, recruit affected candidates in accordance with the law and objective, merit-based criteria.
- Implement appropriate measures to put an end to these reprehensible practices that tarnish the reputation of our universities.

All citizens who value true justice and oppose any form of opacity in public affairs are invited to sign this petition, which aims to promote more efficient and transparent university governance.
