Request that the Seaford Union Free School District Board of Education pass a resolution against high - stakes testing as thousands of researchers, principals, PTA organizations, and more importantly school boards have done. In New York 86 school boards, including North Bellmore, Rockville Centre, Deer Park, Comsewogue, Plainview – Old Bethpage, Wantagh, Massapequa and many more, have all passed such resolutions. In fact, as of today there are 61 districts in total that have sent resolutions to remove high stakes testing. The AFT and NYSUT unanimously adopted a resolution stating "the focus on the standardized testing has undermined education." In Texas, 819 school boards passed such a resolution. They are not the only ones.

We need to request that the Seaford Board of Education pass a resolution and let the state know that the overreliance on high – stakes standardized testing in state and federal accountability systems is undermining educational quality and equity in U.S. public schools by hampering educators’ efforts to focus on the broad range of learning experiences that promote the innovation, creativity, problem solving, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and deep subject-matter knowledge that will allow students to thrive in a society.

We also request that the Seaford Board of Education put the district's students first and ensure the protection of their privacy. Many school districts have sent back their Race To The Top money in order to protect sensitive studentdata from being releasedby NYSED into data dashboards under inBloom.NYSED wants to collect 400 points of data which include: disciplinary records, parent contact info, single-parent household, every course taken with grades, etc. inBloomTOS states "inBloom, Inc. cannot guarantee the security of information stored in inBloom or that the information will not be intercepted when it is being transmitted." Seaford Community members and parents of students in the Seaford School District wantour administration and Board of Educationof the Seaford School District to prevent NYSED from sharing confidential information and violating the privacy of students and parents without parental consent!
