To the ICCL Community and Leadership,

We, the undersigned members of the Islamic Community Center of Laurel (ICCL), demand the immediate resignation of the current ICCL President for violating the ICCL constitution by discussing contract details of Board-appointed staff, which is not within his role. Only the ICCL Chairman may disclose such information if necessary. The following concerns, raised by former Director Muhammad Ismail in his resignation letter, highlight actions that undermine the integrity of ICCL leadership:

1. Unauthorized Disclosure of Confidential Information: During the recent General Body Meeting (GBM), the President violated the ICCL constitution by discussing the work hours and compensation, which was extremely misrepresented, of the Director of Education and the Imam, roles appointed by the Board. This action was outside his authority and disrespected the confidentiality of their contracts.

2. Failure to Address Misconduct: Despite former Director Muhammad Ismail raising these concerns with the Board, including detailed documentation, the President and Board have not issued a public apology or corrected the violation. This lack of accountability erodes community trust.

3. Unprofessional Conduct: The President has displayed unprofessional behavior, including remarks about resigning and treating leadership roles with levity. Such conduct is unacceptable for a position entrusted by the community.

These actions demonstrate a failure to uphold the ICCL constitution and the principles of transparency and accountability. The President’s conduct has damaged community trust and disrespected our staff. We respectfully demand the President’s resignation to restore integrity to ICCL leadership.
