PETITION FOR THE REINSTATEMENT OF JOHN KADZ

This is very embarrassing for MRU conservatory, without Mr.Kadz there would be no conservatory. Once they take him back they owe him a huge apology.

An extremely disappointing decision

Deeply saddened by this news - I hope this can be rectified immediately.

As a parent of a former student of John Kadz, and past president of the Calgary Youth Orchestra, I'm very distressed by this news. John has trained scores of students who have gone on to proudly represent MRU in the most positive way, locally, nationally and internationally. I can't even begin to understand how losing this ambassador for the institution and our country can be in ANY way beneficial. His dedication and warmth to his students could only enhance the reputation of a young university, just as having other distinguished professors draw students from around the world. Please do the right thing and reinstate him to his position.

I am a professional violist and can speak to Johns reputation in the music world. He is a legend, and any school would be lucky to have him

One of Canada's treasures! John has been and continues to be if not the best, than one of two or three best cello teachers in the whole of Canada How can this happen!

I don't even take lessons from MRU, but knowing that this is how MRU does business would make me look elsewhere, for any course offered. Very unprofessional to treat students and a long standing faculty member in this manner.

Whom ever made this decision has grossly underestimated the value of Mr. Kadz as a teacher and advocate for the Conservatory.

This was not a wise decision.

John's strength, vision, work ethic and top-notch teaching has been the backbone of the MRU Conservatory over these years. This is a mistake that needs to be changed. There is no reason for this to happen!

The superb music programs at MRU, particularly the Academy, are partially funded by donors who recognize the superb quality of the musicians on the faculty. John Kadz is a huge asset to the music programs and should not be treated like this. Shame on you!

John Kadz is one of the greatest Cello teachers Canada has ever had! What on earth is wrong with Mount Royal University?

Mr John Kadz was Artistic Co-Director for the internationally recognized Morningside Music Bridge (MMB) summer training program for 19 years. The many many participants over the years have praised his teaching and contributions to the program and to the MRU Conservatory, also awarding him the distinguished faculty teaching award.

Mr. Kadz is an incredible, inspiring pedagogue, musician, and human being. I spent 2 transformative years learning from him before college, and know without question that I wouldn't be where I am today without his thoughtful, thorough, nurturing instruction. I know cellists who have travelled around the world and made great personal sacrifices just to have the chance to grow with him, and never regretted it one bit. This decision would be a grave and significant loss to Calgary's music scene.

I cannot for the life of me figure what this university is thinking. Tragic what they have done...

John Kadz is a pedagogical genius, and one of the most inspiring teachers I've ever known. Studying with him was the best thing that ever happened to me as a young music student. I've never met anyone so committed to his students, so generous with his time, so unflagging in his support, or so brilliant as a teacher. It's no wonder that his former students move on to some of the top music schools in North America. He's a gift to the Canadian music scene, and one of the best teachers we have. I hope you at MRU understand that he is the reason cellists attend your school. He is absolutely irreplaceable. I strongly encourage you to reconsider your decision.

"Brutal! Please name even one existing reason to justify treating one of North America's top distinguished teachers in such a despicable way? Please explain, if this reason even exists. Having heard that a personal vendetta is behind this decision, I am extremely concerned. If this can happen to someone as highly qualified and respected as John Kadz, it can happen to ALL faculty. It takes a tragically short time to destroy a program which was built over so many years . After 45 years of incredible work and dedication to MRU's programs, who deserves to be terminated in such a disrespectful and short sighted way? Having witnessed John's positive influence in my children's artistic and human formation, I cannot overstate my gratitude for his genuine and expert approach. If not reversed, this decision is surely going to have a detrimental and devastating impact on our conservatory and it is downright embarrassing! John Kadz should be reinstated with an apology. MRU owes an explanation and true reassurance to ALL faculty that this arbitrary aggressive action towards its best people cannot and will not ever happen again.

Mr. Kadz is an excellent teacher and a founder of the program. If students had known he wouldn't be teaching, they would have gone elsewhere with their tuition.
