As a former student of John Kadz I am stunned and appalled at what an absurd, misguided, and uninformed decision this is. Really upsetting.

There appears to be no good reason John's contract was not renewed - he has done nothing but produce outstanding students for decades. Aside from that, the timing of the decision is absurd, given that the 2016-17 season begins in days. This decision will hurt the conservatory.

John has been an inspiration and mentor to so many students and faculty. His passion, and skill as a teacher, educator , and administrator, has made the Conservatory one of the best Institutions of its kind. That needs to be recognized and honoured rather than destroyed!

I am the parent of a former student of John Kadz and a retired professional. I have known John and his work now for some twenty years. His international reputation and eminence as a teacher and builder and his qualities as a human being are beyond dispute and broadly attested to in these comments, including from some of the most eminent musicians Canada has ever produced.
It is beyond comprehension that MRU, which is supposed to exhibit and cultivate trained intelligence, could make such a stupid and despicable decision as this. What is actually going on there? .

John Kadz is one of the most wonderful teachers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He has brought tremendous value to the musical community in Canada and the University is so misguided to have terminated his contract.

John Kadz has been the most wonderful, influential person, and cello teacher in my son's life. Without Mr. Kadz's help and teaching, my son would never have achieved the position he currently holds in a professional orchestra. He, like myself, credit Mr. Kadz with providing him the musical and personal skills to be successful in his chosen career. It is unthinkable to not renew his contract at Mount Royal. I seriously urge you to reconsider your decision. Not renewing his contract is a loss for all his students and your school.

John Kadz is one Canada’s premier music educators and has an admirable track record as a cello teacher. He has garnered international recognition for his long list of enviable accomplishments in the field, and I cannot think of a single western Canadian cellist among the many I have hired – either as orchestra musicians or soloists – who has not benefited from his wisdom, experience, and considerable ability. To cast away such a resource, especially in what appears to be a most cavalier manner, is incomprehensible to me.

Mr. John Kadz has been an exceptional cello teacher whose guidance my son benefited from. I am apalled to hear that his contract has not been renewed. Grossly unfair for the current students!

If i were a student expecting to study with Mr. Kadz I would immediately ask for my tuition back. The administration should be ashamed of themselves for letting such a great teacher go and for misleading students.
