My step-son was a member of the very first class of bilingual children at Wix and the foundation it has given him has been even been greater than the sum of two parts. Not only has he become an independent learner quicker than he might have been, but his results across the board in all subjects have been excellent. Not only would I like to see the Belleville Wix bilingual stream continue long into the future, I would like to see this type of course broadened out as it offers the chance for children to flourish into open-minded, hard working and intelligent young adults.

I strongly believe MORE bilingual spaces should be offered by Belleville Wix/Lycee - the demand is phenomenal and the results are excellent. But if you have to live 1m from the front door to get it, it's not a fair system. Open more spaces.

My son attends this, entered via the English / Wandsworth admissions arm and has been developing in confidence and fluency; it's been amazing for him. My daughter is older and doing well in the English stream so I can compare his development in English. I think he has covered the same if not more of the syllabus in English and has caught up to where she was at the same stage in reception, having been well behind, so I don't think it's a disadvantage for English proficiency and quite possibly the mixed approach to learning and of course variety arguably works better for his learning style. Overall and most importantly he is really enjoying school, his teachers and class mates. I would be very upset to see this closed and for him and others to lose this opportunity so want to show my support here. Thank you.

The bilingual stream at Belleville-Wix Academy/Lycée français Charles de Gaulle is an extraordinary asset to both Belleville Wix Academy/Quality First Educational Trust, and to the Lycée.
It gets excellent academic results. It is a shining example of the kind of pedagogical innovation and excellence that Belleville and the Lycée are both known for. It prepares children for the multi-cultural and multi-lingual realities of the contemporary world. It is highly unusual in London and beyond, and attracts a diverse and engaged set of families.
Administrative difficulties and mis-communication appear to have hampered the partnership between Belleville and the Lycée so far, and at times, despite the wonderful professionalism and skill of all the teachers, these have affected the children's education - our shared priority. Reassurances as to the future of the bilingual stream have been offered and are very welcome, insofar as they go. But a new formal agreement between the two schools is still pending.
I call on the Executive Head of Belleville, John Grove, the Members of the Quality First Education Trust - Kate Amis, Julian Coningham, Brian Ledbetter - and on M. Rauch, proviseur du Lycée Charles de Gaulle de Londres, to resolve these issues, renew their commitment to the bilingual stream by recognising its unique qualities, and to continue this innovative and excellent educational initiative.

Academy schools have a duty to listen to and take heed of their parents. If they do not parents will take their children elsewhere.

We had two children go through the bilingual school at Wix. Our eldest was in the first ever class and although the parents from that class had to fight to overcome the initial teething problems, the fight was well worth it. There were issues, of course, but ultimately it provided a wonderful, cross cultural, education. Both our children were very happy in the school and continued on to the Lycee despite us being an anglophone family. It saddens us profoundly to think that the bilingual stream may be endangered. It's ethos and aims should be cherished, celebrated and continued.

I’m very concerned by the apparent absence of good will and collaboration between the 2 entities, Lycee Francais and Belleville Academy – with as a consequence to jeopardises the bilingual stream which is such a great and innovative way to teach our bi-cultural children. We have 1 son in RB and think it is brilliant. We strongly hope that the parents' concern will be heard and an acceptable agreement for both parties will be signed.
